And the categories for 2010 are:

The {also} Foundation seeks nominations from the public for the following awards. In each category, the four nominees receiving the highest number of nominations will then be short listed when voting opens to the public on 4 June. A winner for the category will then be determined by the “first past the post” vote count. In the event of a tie, the Judging Panel will cast the deciding votes.

1. Most Outstanding Volunteer (This award recognizes the outstanding contribution by an individual volunteer to any GLBTIQ event, organization or initiative held in the last 12 months)

2. Most Outstanding Community Event (This award is to acknowledge the most outstanding community event of the last 12 months, by and for the queer community)

3. Best Overall Community Reporting by a Media Outlet (This award acknowledges a consistently excellent level of reportage by a queer media outlet over the last 12 months)

4. Most Popular DJ (Nominees must have played in Victorian venues or events within the last 12 months, whether they be regular residencies or as guests)

5. Most Popular Venue (Nominees must cater for the GLBTIQ community and be located in Victoria)

6. Most Popular One Nighter or Alternative Venue (Nominees must cater for the GLBTIQ community and be located in Victoria)

7. Most Outstanding Costumier (This award acknowledges outstanding work and craftsmanship of costumier’s for Victoria’s vibrant queer arts and performance scene)

8. Most Popular Artist, Group or Entertainer (This award is open to non-drag performing artists and entertainers)

9. Most Popular Drag Queen Performer (Victorian-based)

10.  Most Popular Drag King Performer (Victorian-based)

11. Most Popular Live Show or Performance (Victorian based)

12. Most Outstanding Business or Organisation (Victorian-based)

13. Most Significant Straight Supporter (This award acknowledges the support and respect provided by a person, group or entity from the non-queer community)


The {also} Foundation seeks nominations from the public for the following award categories. From the nominations received, the Community Leadership Panel will then select a winner. All nominations received in this category will be considered by the panel.

14. Most Outstanding Community Campaign or Initiative (Awarded to acknowledge the most significant community campaign, initiative or action by a community group or organization)

15. Most Significant Activist of the Year (Awarded to acknowledge the outstanding work of an activist or leader in furthering the rights or understanding of the GLBTIQ community)

16. Most Outstanding Queer Media Report (single issue/article/report/segment) (Awarded to acknowledge excellence in queer media reporting)

17. Most Outstanding Artist or Group of the Year (Awarded to acknowledge excellence in queer arts achieved by an artist, band or arts company)

18.  Most Outstanding Contribution to GLBTIQ Sport (Awarded to acknowledge significant contribution to GLBTIQ sport and recreation)

19. Hall of Fame (Lifetime Achievement Award) (Award to acknowledge the contribution by an individual to the betterment of the lives of the GLBTIQ community)

20. Youth Achievement Award (Awarded to acknowledge the outstanding contribution by a young GLBTIQ individual under 26)

21. GLHV Award for Outstanding Health Initiative

22.  GLHV Award for Health Hero
