Strategic Plan, Aims & Objectives
The Plan
The directions
outlined here build on other planning processes undertaken
in 2002 and subsequently in 2004 and evolved in discussion
with members and others.
This
feedback identified four defining activities for the organisation
within the larger community: celebration,
advocacy, leadership and investment. Within each of these four themes we have
identified specific objectives for the organisation: this
Strategic Plan provides detail of the means by which we intend
to achieve these objectives. These objectives will be annually
reviewed and revised.
The aim of the plan is to ensure awareness amongst members
and others of the direction and work of the organisation,
and to ensure equitable distribution of the organisation’s
resources in an environment of competing demands and contested
priorities.
ALSO is not a large organisation and is reliant upon our
member volunteers as well as strategic and resource partners
to pursue and achieve our objectives. Partnership is a key
theme of this document reflecting the Foundations’s
genuine commitment to supporting our partners in their endeavors.
We welcome any assistance or critique aimed at assisting
us to best meet the needs of our community.
We do not expect that all of the actions identified will
be completed in one year. In each year we will review all
actions, remove completed achievements and carry forward
those in progress.
Our
Vision
The ALSO vision is the creation and celebration
of a diverse, strong, safe and inclusive GLBTIQ community
that contributes to and is respected by broader communities.
Our Objectives
We aim to realise this vision and improve the lives of Gay,
Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Inter-sex and Queer people
by:
Celebrating and
acknowledging our communities’ strengths
and those of our supporters.
Advocating to secure equitable access to
rights, entitlements and services.
Leading through building relationships/partnerships
within and beyond our community.
Investing in growing and developing individuals
and groups within our diverse community.
