Queer sex 101Everything you wanted to know about sex but were afraid to ask… Queer Sex 101 was a sexuality and sexual health Q&A session for youth in collaboration with Minus+. Young people who participated were given a safe space to ask questions and chat about what is really involved in certain types of sexual practices, how careful they really need to be in terms of sexual health, and how many people really participate in certain acts. It was a great day for young people to feel like they could ask questions in a non threatening way; either out loud or in an anonymous box- so that all kinds of topics could come up and be explored. Some of the young people were able to share their knowledge and skill and give good demonstrations on use of safer sex materials as well as give their input on the questions that their peers wanted answered. Minus 18 website hosted the questions and answers in the forums after the event, so that those who weren’t able to be there on the day could still learn from the experience. As a follow on some of the young people involved with Minus decided to create their own safe sex info that speaks to queer youth and is representative of their needs. These cards are written in age appropriate language and explain safe sex materials as well as listing places you can go for testing. They are now included in all safe sex packs that get given out at Minus 18 dance parties- Around 1500 per year. ![]() Support
